Bruschetta is one of those very simple Italian dishes who are really appreciated worldwide. However, it might be hard to find a perfect Italian-style bruschetta abroad.
Follow this recipe to surprise your guests with this tasty Mediterranean starter!
Hot Tips: Bruschetta is pronounced ‘Brusketta’!

Ingredients
- 250g (9oz) of tomatoes
- 1-2 cloves of garlic
- 10-15 leaves of basil
- 200g (7oz) of long bread loaf
- olive oil as needed
- salt as needed
Preparation: 15min | Cooking: 5min | Overall Time: 20min
Start to prepare your bruschetta mix by washing and cutting around 250g (9oz) of tomatoes in thin dices. I tend to use cherry tomatoes, but perino are good too. Move them into a bowl and be sure not to waste all the juice.
Continue by peeling about one clove and a half of garlic. Dice it minutely, then add it to the mixture. Save another half clove for later.
Now, wash between 10 and 15 leaves of fresh basil. Chop them and add them to the tomatoes and garlic.
Season the mixture with olive oil and salt and let it rest to allow all the juices to mix.
Proceed by slicing around 200g (7oz) of a long bread loaf – a ciabatta or a French baguette will do the job. Toast each slice on a non-stick pan. A couple of minutes per side will be enough to make it crunchy.
Finally, rub half a clove of garlic on one side of bread slices.
Serve your bruschetta mix on the freshly toasted garlic-rubbed bread!

Hot Tips: Serve bruschetta not long before your meal, otherwise the juices will make the bread soft and wet. To avoid so, serve two different bowls: one for the bruschetta mix and one for the bread slices!
